Picture

Through delightful costumes, songs, props and dialog, students will learn:
  • mechanics and biology of worm composting
  • packaging: natural vs. synthetic
  • natural cycles: decomposition to nutrient
  • soil health: erosion and flooding

Created in the Spring of 2011, Worms and Watersheds is a collaboration between the Sebastopol Union School District and the Imaginists Theater Collective with partial funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through Ocean Conservancy and an Ocean Guardian School Grant.

Worms and Watersheds was designed to educate students about healthy waste management practices, composting with worms, and the importance of local watershed health. The play is designed for audience participation, including bringing 10 students on stage to don their "worm hats" and help push back the waste that begins to take over the stage. With clever, humorous, and catchy songs about worms, turning garbage to gold, and packaging, this play informs as well as entertains.

Children and adults will enjoy the musical and theatrical performance while they learn about important conservation efforts. This is a one-of-a-kind environmental action performance is sure to be a hit with your students!
